The Walcha Men's Shed provides a drop in centre for men to have a chat and interact with other men. Members can get involved in woodwork, metalwork or plant nursery depending on your interests or just drop in for a cup of tea or coffee and a yarn. We also provide computer access for anyone wishing to access the web, send and receive email or even just write a letter. Don’t be shy, please feel free to drop in and visit us.
"Original members and distinguished guests"
Don’t know about power tools and other machines? At the Walcha Men’s Shed that’s not a problem; skilled people will be able to show you how to use them, in a supportive and friendly environment.
Older men need ‘a space’ where they can be free to engage in a range of activities that are designed with male interests in mind, and where they can discuss their thoughts, feelings and concerns for the future with other men.
It has been proven that social participation increases quality of life, individual empowerment and healthy living and ageing. The ‘Shed’ holds an important place in Australian male culture.
Good health is based on many factors including self-esteem, a good social network and a valued role in society.
Active social relationships have long been seen to enhance health and assist in protecting against disease including stress and depression.
When men retire they often change their living arrangements, downsizing to smaller accommodation. A common result is that men lose their personal space (a shed or garage) and are less active
A community based shed can address men’s need for personal space, purposeful activity and social contact.
Your Walcha Men’s Shed has been set up to address these needs. The members of the shed meet regularly to provide input into the Shed’s running and direction for future projects and activities
What’s on offer at the Walcha Men’s Shed

- Just share a yarn and a cup of tea or coffee with other blokes
The Walcha Men’s shed is a place where skilled and unskilled men of all ages can share time with each other, swapping yarns and working together on personal or community based projects.
Retired men find the shed a great social place. Men seeking new interests or skills will find it a more relaxed place to try something new.
All men are welcome to participate at the ‘Shed’ with many retired members of the community volunteering to help with running the Shed’s many projects and activities.
